Building the first German General Hospital in Abu Dhabi
On 01.08.2009 the starting gun was fired for the start of construction for the first German hospital in Abu Dhabi. After intensive negotiations beforehand, with various renowned construction companies located in the United Arab Emirates, a pre-contract was drawn up with Polensky & Zoellner Abu Dhabi W.L.L. Polensky & Zoellner have over 35 years of experience in the United Arab Emirates and have been part of the Heberger group since 1987. When drawing up the contract the focus was placed on guaranteeing the best possible project development and cost transparency.
The so called pilling (pile foundation) and the concreting of the base plate (approx. 15,000 mē) for the main building are the first construction measures, which have already been carried out.
The piling procedure serves to stabilise the base plate and as a rule is used on sandy ground. So 13 metre deep bore holes will be made, until stable ground is discovered. Then the bore holes will be fitted with steel reinforcement and the piles will be concreted so that they can bear the load of the building later.
Around 670 concrete piles will be required for the construction of the German General Hospital.
